How the online mockup editor works
1/ Open a PSD mockup
Choose File → Open in Photopea and open your PSD mockup.
2/ Find the smart object
Double-click the Smart Object thumbnail for your artwork.
3/ Place your design
Place your design, then choose File → Save to update the mockup.
4/ Export your preview
Return to the main mockup document, then choose File → Export As → PNG or JPG. Use File → Save as PSD to download an editable copy.

Double-click the Smart Object thumbnail, place or paste your design, adjust its scale and position if needed, then choose File → Save and return to the mockup. Compatible PSD mockups update automatically, applying your artwork to the scene while keeping it separate from shadows, highlights, textures, and other editable layers. You can update your design later without flattening the file or rebuilding the mockup.

Yes. The editor opens in free Photopea mode, which may show Photopea ads. You do not need a Creatsy account to open the editor, but you do need a free or paid PSD mockup file if you want to test a real mockup workflow.
No. Photoshop is not required for this workflow. Photopea opens PSD files in the browser and supports common layer editing tasks, including smart object edits in compatible mockups. Large or complex files may be slower to edit, depending on your device.
Open the PSD, double-click the Smart Object thumbnail, place your artwork, choose File → Save, and return to the mockup. Compatible layered PSD mockups update after you save the smart object. If you rasterize a smart object, it loses the linked smart object workflow.
A PNG or JPG is a flat image; it does not contain the original mockup’s editable layers or Smart Objects. For this workflow, start with a compatible layered PSD mockup, then place your artwork inside its Smart Object. Export PNG or JPG for the finished preview and save a PSD copy for future edits.
Photopea states that files opened from your device are processed locally on that device. If you connect cloud storage, Photopea can read and save files in the storage you authorize. See Photopea's privacy policy for details.
Yes, if your use is allowed by the license for the mockup you downloaded or purchased. The editor does not change the license. Always check the product page and Creatsy license terms before using final images in client work, ads, or product listings.
