Back to School Challenge – Week 3: #creatsymug
85 entries. One mug mockup. Seven days.
This week we brewed creativity straight into your cup: a sticker-ready mug stuffed with stationery, just waiting for your patterns to sip the spotlight. Each mug became a miniature gallery. filled with color, texture, and imagination, with every design telling its own small but mighty story.
We’ve organized the gallery into cozy, “mug-themed” chapters – animals, nature, art, food, school, travel, and Christmas – so you can browse by vibe (and caffeine level). Each section will pour out a short note on what we saw and why we love it.
How to browse: Click any image to jump to the artist’s page and explore more of their work. We’re featuring everyone; if you don’t spot your piece yet, give us a nudge and we’ll add it. Ready to top up your inspiration? Let’s stir, sip, and start!
Creature Comforts Cup
From pond-hopping frogs and flower-sniffing bunnies to jungle kings, lemurs, and backpack-ready pups, this “zoo in a cup” brought the wild to our desks in every style – cute, quirky, elegant, and even prehistoric (hello, dinosaurs!). Land, sea, and sky all showed up: koi and lobsters swam across glossy ceramics, birds took flight over leafy patterns, and beetles, ladybugs, and other crawly cuties lined up like tiny badges. Animals appeared as soft watercolors, punchy vectors, and vintage stamp motifs; each mug turned into a cheerful habitat – stuffed with rulers, pencils, and washi strips like little enrichment toys. The result: a menagerie of mugs that made us grin between sips and study sessions.
Sip & Snack Mug
Sugar, spice, and everything nice – this round was a feast for the eyes. From bow-tied cherries and berry-cute patterns to bacon-and-eggs breakfasts, cozy tea sets, cupcake daydreams, and scenes straight from a French boulangerie, these mugs serve up comfort with every sip. Perfect for the studio, kitchen counter, or homeroom desk, they’re little reminders to stay fueled, have fun, and treat yourself to something sweet between sketches.
A Mug of Art
From crisp geometrics to free-flowing squiggles, this gallery-on-a-handle revels in rhythm and play. Stripes stack like notebook margins, circles pop like confetti, and zigzags zip around the cup like electric ideas. You’ll spot deco linework, retro pop dots, Memphis-style shapes, and kaleidoscopic tiles, plus soft sherbet pastels parked right next to high-contrast primaries. Some pieces lean minimal – clean bands, tidy grids, ruler-straight repeats—while others go delightfully loose with hand-drawn textures, sunbursts, and ribboning waves. A few cups even sneak in sparkle motifs and big, geometric numerals for that poster-art punch. Load one up with pencils, and it doubles as a tiny studio: a daily nudge to doodle in the margins, test a color combo, or take one more brave line. One sip, and the ideas start dancing.
Botanical Brew
A fresh pour of green! This chapter blossoms with florals in full bloom, well-tended garden scenes, curling vines and leaf motifs, woodland trees, and a few charming mushrooms peeking through the undergrowth. From delicate linework to lush painterly petals, these mugs feel like a walk through a sunny arboretum – pencils and rulers riding along like field notes. Nature takes center stage, and every sip (or sketch) feels a little more grounded.
Classroom Cup
Pencils at the ready! This section celebrates school-day spirit with doodled desk supplies, cheerful apples for teachers, dancing crayons, and pep-talk stickers that spark effort and smiles. You’ll spot graph-grid vibes, ruled-paper textures, name-labels, and playful building blocks – perfect for little learners and big dreamers alike. Some mugs feel like a tidy backpack: rulers, erasers, and notebooks lined up for a fresh start. Others burst with color like an art cart – paint swirls, tape tabs, sticky notes, and scribbles that shout “make something!” We even tucked in A-to-Z motifs, classroom icons, and friendly faces to keep company during homework sips and staff-room breaks. It’s a bright blend of learning, fun, and creativity that turns every study session into a mini pep rally and every mug into a tiny desk caddy for ideas on the move.
Travel Mug
Need a mental field trip between classes? This mug passport is stamped with destinations near and far – Scandi “fika” breaks, Brazilian color bursts, chic Parisian waves and stripes, and oceanside sunsets that say “breathe.” You’ll spot boarding-pass badges, globe-trotting stickers, map lines, poolside patterns, and beachy icons alongside safari jeeps and paw prints. From palm trees to postage marks, each sip feels like a boarding call – proof that adventure packs nicely into a cup on your desk.
Cocoa & Carols
Let’s close this leg of the challenge on a celebratory note – cue the jingles! A merry little trio to warm your hands and your heart: tiny Christmas mice scampering across candy-colored patterns, stockings stuffed with surprises, and a jolly snowman waving from a frosty night. It’s only autumn on the calendar, but one sip from these mugs and you can almost hear the choir tuning up. Consider this your permission to cue the playlists, dust off the ornaments, and sneak the first hot cocoa of the season – holiday cheer, served early and extra sweet.
Final Pour
Week 3 felt like homeroom for the imagination – 85 makers, one sticker-ready mug mockup, and minds full of ideas. From Creature Comforts Cups to Sip & Snack Mugs, from abstract swirls to Botanical Brews, every design turned a humble handle into a hall pass for personality. Our Classroom Cups rang the bell with rulers, crayons, and gold-star pep talks, while Travel Mugs stamped passports and daydreamed past the cafeteria line. Even Cocoa & Carols snuck into the syllabus, proving it’s never too early for extra credit in holiday cheer.
In short: this challenge brewed community and courage in equal parts – proof that a mug on your desk can be more than a place for pencils or tea; it can be your desk-side mascot, your study buddy, your reminder to keep learning, keep making, and keep showing up with something bright to share.
